One person is facing charges after a fire was set inside a Bracebridge motel.

OPP say someone at the motel on Manitoba Street near Wellington Street called 9-1-1 multiple times between 6 p.m. on Sunday and 1:22 a.m. this morning.

Police say that individual had several concerns, but officers weren’t able to find any evidence to support the complaints.

They also say the caller was “uncooperative.”

“During the final 9-1-1 call at 1:22 a.m., officers discovered that there had been a fire lit inside the motel and the caller was refusing to leave his room,” said OPP in a news release.

Police were able to get inside the room, put out the fire and safely arrest the suspect.

Shane Jones, 52, of Gravenhurst has been charged with arson, mischief - destroy or damage property and public mischief.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
