An intoxicated GO train passenger was apprehended and charged by Barrie police due to his unruly behaviour Tuesday evening.
On March 4 at 7:05 p.m., city police say officers were notified by Metrolinx security about a man who was travelling on the GO train to Barrie who was allegedly smoking and acting aggressively toward the conductor.
Police said when the train came to the end of its route and stopped at the Allandale Waterfront GO station, the man exited the rail car and was immediately observed by responding officers relieving himself on the platform.
Police quickly determined that the 55-year-old passenger was intoxicated.
He was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place, contrary to the Liquor Licence Control Act, and transported to police headquarters on Fairview Road for further investigation.
In addition to being intoxicated in a public place, the man was also been charged with engaging in a prohibited activity on premises (Trespass to Property Act), smoke tobacco in a prohibited place (Smoke Free Ontario Act), foul on pedestrian way (Barrie's nuisance bylaw), according to police.
Police said the man remained in custody until it was determined that it was safe to release him.
