Ontario Provincial Police say recent patrols on roads in our area have resulted in charges for three drivers.
At around 11:17 p.m. on Thursday March 14, officers were told of a vehicle being driven erratically in the Heritage Drive and King Street area of Midland.
Police spotted a suspect vehicle in a parking lot, where 63-year-old Doreen Stevenson of Oshawa was charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and dangerous operation.
Then just before midnight on Friday, March 15, officers noticed signs of impairment when a driver went through a RIDE program on Heritage Drive at Wye Valley Road.
Wayne Balkwill, 60, of Toronto was charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
A third driver is facing charges after a vehicle rolled over and landed in a ditch on Highway 12 in Tay Township at 11:41 a.m. on Sunday, March 17.
The 21-year-old Midland man wasn’t hurt, but he has been charged with being a Class G1 licence holder unaccompanied by qualified driver, careless driving, using a plate not authorized for the vehicle, being a Class G1 licence holder carrying a front-seat passenger, operating an unsafe vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
