Police are investigating an online gambling operation targeting high school students in Orillia.
Orillia OPP began the investigation in April, when police received reports of people being offered the opportunity to take part in online gambling by signing up on a website called Topbets. After signing up, they were able to place sports bets and play casino-based games, Orillia OPP said in a news release.
Students told police they were being threatened due to debts owed.
Police believe there may be more victims. Anyone who has been a victim or has information is asked to call Orillia OPP at 705-326-3536 or 1-888-310-1122.
