Two vehicles ended up in a ditch following an early morning crash on Highway 400, police say.

A 21-year-old driver from Parry Sound has been charged with careless driving in connection with a three-vehicle collision on Highway 400 early Sunday morning.

The crash happened around 12:15 a.m. on Sunday morning, on Highway 400 heading northbound, north of Lloydtown-Aurora Road.

Three vehicles were involved in the collision, with two going off the road into the ditch. Those included the pickup truck driven by the Parry Sound driver and another car. An SUV was also involved in the collision.

The driver of the car, a 30-year-old from Woodstock, and their passenger were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Nobody was injured in the pick-up truck or the SUV.

The two right lanes and the off-ramp to Lloydtown-Aurora Road were closed from the time of the crash until around 3 a.m.

The crash required “extensive clean-up,” with equipment brought in to sweep the road, according to Sgt. Ted Dongelmans, interim media coordinator for the Ontario Provincial Police’s Highway Safety Division.

The 21-year-old driver of the pickup truck, from Parry Sound, was charged with careless driving at the scene.
