A pedestrian was killed after being struck by an Ontario Provincial Police cruiser Sunday morning in Bala.
The incident happened shortly before 6 a.m. on Muskoka Road 169.
The 25-year-old man was taken to hospital, where he died from his injuries. The officer was also taken to hospital as a precaution.
“The OPP has ensured that victim services has been engaged for the male’s family. Resources are also in place for the officer involved,” police said in a news release.
Muskoka Road 169 is closed between Sutton Drive and Bala Falls Road for the investigation.
Because an officer was involved in the incident, the province’s Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate.
