Police have released images of a man wanted in the stabbings of a man and his dog in downtown Barrie on Aug. 6.

City police are asking the public for help in identifying a suspect in an incident where a man and his dog were both stabbed in downtown Barrie on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at 9:59 p.m. on Aug. 6, when a man walking his dog in the area of Dunlop and Owen streets became involved in an argument with an unknown man who stabbed him and the dog, according to police.

The dog was treated for an injury, while the male victim was transported to a local hospital where he received treatment for a stab wound, police said.

The suspect, who is outstanding, is described as a Black male who was wearing a grey hoodie, dark shorts and running shoes. He was last seen running southbound on Owen Street.

Police say they are continuing to investigate this incident and are presently working to identify the suspect.
