Tuesday’s double shooting has Barrie police searching for suspects and two men still in serious condition at hospital.
Investigators remained on scene Wednesday morning at a Bayfield Street home, just south of Grove Street, after being called to a shooting at the residence around 5 p.m., on Feb. 15.
Two male victims were airlifted to Toronto-area trauma centres and are currently listed in serious but stable condition.
Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon said no arrests have been made.
“As far as the suspects go, we know there is more than one, but our investigators are still hard at work trying to confirm the involvement of the individuals,” said Leon. “At this point, the investigation remains active and ongoing.”
While still in the early stages, Leon said the occurrence appears to be isolated in nature and there is not believed to be any risk to public safety.
Numerous drops of blood could be seen on the ground this morning in the parking lot behind the Bayfield Street home, which had been taped off for investigation.
A heavy police presence at the Bayfield Street location coincided with an equally heavy presence at the intersection of Duckworth and Grove streets, about 2.5 kilometres away.
While it remained unclear Tuesday night, Leon did confirm Wednesday morning that there is a connection between the two investigations.
A jacket on the road on Grove Street on Tuesday night had been taped off with one officer at the scene describing it as "crucial evidence."
Investigators want to speak to anyone who may have information or who may have been in the area around the time of the shooting to contact Barrie police at 705-725-7025, ext. 2131.
