Police seized more than $32,000 in stolen merchandise following a theft from an Orillia business on Feb. 19.

Three people face numerous charges stemming from an incident that took place earlier this week.

In a news release issued today, Orillia OPP say officers responded to a call around 8:20 p.m. on Feb. 19 to investigate a theft in progress at an Orillia store on Monarch Drive.

Reports revealed that three suspects were hiding several electronic devices in their possession. These same suspects were allegedly seen by staff in the last month taking items from the store.

As the store's loss prevention officer approached the suspects, they entered a silver Mazda 5 and headed toward Highway 11. Shortly after, police were able to locate the vehicle on the highway, between Line 14 and 13, where they placed all three suspects under arrest.

Further investigation revealed that one male party was currently on a release order from Montreal and Toronto police services for similar offences with conditions. A second male party was wanted out of Halton Region for similar charges. A third male was identified through fingerprints, resulting in the Canada Border Services Agency being contacted.

Police say more than $32,000 of stolen merchandise was seized and recovered from the vehicle.
