Police have charged a Severn Township man with sex offences against minors, and officials believe there could be more victims.

On Sept. 30, police received information about a historical sexual assault and sexual interference incident. They were advised that in June, the accused told a group of female youths he was 17 years old, provided alcohol, and had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl, Orillia OPP said in a news release.

Additional victims have come forward since the investigation began, and police say there might be more yet.

Ty Arends, 21, has been charged with assault causing bodily harm (choke, suffocate or strangle) and three counts each of sexual interference and sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Anyone with information about these or similar incidents is asked to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Information can be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or crimestopperssdm.com.

Police advise there is no statute of limitations on sexual offences. A report can be made at any time, regardless of how much time has passed.
