TOWN OF WASAGA BEACH - The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one youth with impaired driving related charges after vehicle struck a hydro pole.
On Nov. 12 at approximately 1:24 a.m., Huronia West OPP officers responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision where a vehicle struck a hydro pole in the Town of Wasaga Beach. Upon arrival the driver had fled the scene but was located by officers a brief time later. Officers engaged in an impaired operation investigation.
As a result, a 17-year-old of Wasaga Beach, was arrested and has been charged with the following:
- YPC Operation while Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
- YPC Operation while Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs
- YPC Dangerous Operation
The youth was additionally charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Novice Driver - B.A.C. Above Zero
- Fail to Report Accident
The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
