Barrie police are continuing to investigate a stabbing that occurred near Innisdale Secondary School on Wednesday afternoon that sent a male teenager to hospital.

Police issued an update Thursday saying the 15-year-old victim was released from local hospital after being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

An "edged weapon" was involved in the attack, according to police.

Officers were dispatched to the scene, in the area of Bayview Drive and Little Avenue, at about 2:34 p.m. on Wednesday.

There have been no arrests made, and police believe this is an isolated incident.

"We’ve got very limited information to work with," Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday on Thursday.

"We’re following up with some information, but unless we get a significant tip, we probably won’t (make progress) until something breaks on it."

Anyone with information is asked to call Barrie police at 705-725-7025.
