Three charged in theft of $32K worth of booze from area LCBO stores

Three people have been charged in relation to a string of thefts from LCBO stores in New Tecumseth and other areas.

Police began an investigation last May after receiving reports from several LCBO locations in the area that the same people were stealing high-value alcohol, Nottawasaga OPP said in a news release.

Investigators determined the thefts were also happening in the Huronia West, Collingwood, Caledon and Dufferin OPP detachment areas. The total value of the stolen alcohol was $32,307.15.

Police made three arrests Tuesday and Wednesday.

Sharndeep Singh, 25, of Brampton, has been charged with theft over $5,000 — shoplifting (two counts), conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, and failure to comply with a release order (seven counts).

Jagroop Singh, 30, of Brampton, has been charged with theft over $5,000 — shoplifting (two counts), conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, and theft under $5,000 — shoplifting.

Simranjeet Singh, 24, of Brampton, has been charged with theft over $5,000 — shoplifting (two counts), conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, and failure to comply with a probation order (five counts).

All three are being held in custody pending bail hearings.
