RAMA POLICE

On Friday, Feb. 5, 2021 The Rama Police Service conducted an investigation. As a result of this investigation officers were able to obtain a warrant and searched a residence located on Sesame Street, Rama First Nation.
With the assistance of the OPP K9 Unit, police located 33.6 grams of suspected cocaine and several weapons.
As a result of the investigation Joey Newman, aged 36, was held for bail and charged with 15 criminal charges, including;
- Fail to comply with probation order (weapons) - CC 733.1(1)
- Fail to comply with release order (weapons) - CC 145(5)
- Careless use of a firearm - CC 86(1)
- Pointing a firearm - CC 87
- Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose - CC 88
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm - CC 91(1)
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm - CC 92(1)
- Careless storage of a firearm (Shotgun) - CC 86(1)
- Careless storage of ammunition (.22 caliber) - CC 86(1)
- Careless storage of ammunition (12 gauge) - CC 86(1)
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon (Crossbow) - CC 92(2)
- Possession of a schedule I substance - CDSA 4(1)
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - CDSA 5(2)
- Discharge firearm with intent - CC 244(1)
- Trafficking a schedule I substance - CDSA 5(1)
Shelby Urquhart, aged 28 was released on a Form 10 to appear in the Orillia Court of Justice on April 20th, 2021 at 0930 hrs. She was charged with six criminal charges;
- Possession of a Schedule I substance - CDSA 4(1)
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- CDSA 5(2)
- 4X Cause damage or injury to animal or bird - fail to provide adequate food, water or care - CC 446(1)(b)
