Take a trip down memory lane to Orillia's main street, circa 1930

Long-time Orillians will recognize many of the businesses that were stationed on Orillia's main street back in the 1930s
154 Main Street Orillia c1930
This postcard shows Orillia's main street, looking west from Peter Street, circa 1930.

1930sPostcard Memories is a weekly series of historic postcard views and photos submitted by Marcel Rousseau.

Some were previously published by the Orillia Museum of Art and History and in the book Postcard Memories Orillia.

Orillia's main drag looked a lot differed in the 1930s than it does today.

This vintage postcard shows Mississaga Street, looking west from Peter Street. Several signs are visible including Carters’ Café.

Some of the other stores in business in the early 1930s were, on the left corner, Morley Plunkett Men's Wear at 79 Mississaga St. E., a book shop at No. 75, Carters’ at No. 71-73, Pulvers Ladies Wear at No. 69, Beube M. Hosiery at No. 67 and Agnew-Surpass Shoe Store at No. 65.

On the right side the corner building was the Royal Bank, Macnab & Sons at No. 72, Orillia Newsletter and Curran Bros. at No. 70 and the Packet & Times at No. 64.
