We're excited to present the first edition of our Village Wild video series, where we feature a video or video link submitted to us by one of our readers.

This week, we're featuring a wild video link that was submitted to us by David from Dundas.

In the video, which was posted on TikTok on February 4th and is garnering some serious attention and has already racked up over 285,000 views.

In the viral video, you see a partially submerged, large, grey and black coloured snake floating along the shoreline of Mississauga's Credit River.

A duck can also be seen floating near the snake during the clip, however, the reptile does not move, prompting many viewers on TikTok to question if it's alive or dead.

However, as reported by CP24, Mississauga Animal Services (MAS), confirmed that they received a call about a snake and retrieved a “deceased boa” on Monday afternoon at Erindale Park, on the shoreline of the Credit River.

According to the CP24 report, MAS said the snake is likely a non-native species, possibly a red-tail boa constrictor.

The red tail boa, also referred to as a boa constrictor, is a very common choices as a pet snake and can be easily acquired from a breeder, pet store, or reptile show and are identifiable by their red patterned coloration on the end of their tail.

MAS says this type of snake needs a “much warmer climate and temperatures for survival."

While this type of reptile is a common choice of pet, anyone who locates an exotic animal like this in the wild should call their local animal control.

Remember, you can also submit an unbelievable animal or nature video or video link for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card and be featured on Village-Life.ca!
