After hip surgery about a year-and-a-half ago, I started using a walker as I felt more comfortable and sure of myself.

Since then, I have been amazed at how caring Canadians are for people with a disability. People are always going out of their way to open a door for me and make way, although I usually hold back.

It is a tribute to Canadians that we have developed such a caring society. It has certainly confirmed my faith in people, no matter their age or situation in life.
