Bracebridge man charged in wake of death of pedestrian

The 56-year-old is charged with operation causing death and impaired driving in wake of the early-morning crash Monday

SEGUIN TWP –  Members of the West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the OPP Technical Collision Investigation Unit (TCIU) continue to investigate a fatal collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian on Highway 141 west of Rosseau in Seguin Township. The collision occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. Nov. 2, 2020.  

A silver four-door sports utility vehicle was travelling westbound on Highway 141 when it collided and fatally injured a pedestrian. OPP has charged the driver of the vehicle, Mark Jensen, age 56, of Bracebridge, with:    

  • Operation causing death, contrary to Section 320.14(3) of the Criminal Code (CC) and  
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to Section 320.14(1)(b) CC.  

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on Dec. 3, 2020. The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle has been seized for further investigation.
