E-bike driver injured in two-vehicle collision on Barrie Road

The driver of the car was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act, police said

An E-bike driver was sent to hospital following a collision at the intersection of Barrie Road and Walker Avenue on Sept. 19 in Orillia.

Ontario Provincial Police said in a release issued Saturday morning that at about 4 p.m. on Thursday OPP officers along with Orillia Fire and Simcoe County paramedics were called to the collision.

Upon arrival, officers observed a vehicle with substantial damage and an E-bike on its side with a driver laying beside it, noted the media release.

The male victim, who had been operating the E-bike, appeared to be suffering minor injuries and was transported to a local area hospital, where he was treated and later released.

The driver of the motor vehicle was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act, police said.
