Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC) are continuing to raise the awareness for north Simcoe residents of the various scams that they may encounter on the telephone or online.
As part of Financial Literacy Month, it’s important to talk about one of the biggest threats to your financial health: fraud. Fraud can have devastating consequences for individuals and families across the country. The best way to protect yourself and others is to stay informed, be vigilant and share knowledge about the tactics fraudsters use. Please feel free to use and disseminate these bulletins throughout your network.
No matter your level of cyber fitness, fraudsters will stop at nothing to steal from their victims. Your best protection against cyber threats is to learn more about them and the simple steps you can take to protect yourself.

Anyone who suspects they have been the victim of cybercrime or fraud should report it to their local police and to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre’s online reporting system or by phone at 1-888-495-8501. If not a victim, report it to the CAFC anyway.
