No injuries reported in early-morning house fire, explosion

Fire marshal is investigating incident, says official; nobody was injured

Ontario's Office of the Fire Marshal has been called to investigate following a multi-structure fire that broke out in Innisfil early Saturday morning.

Innisfil Fire and Rescue Services crews were called to a waterfront area along Crescent Harbour Road — a street near the northwest tip of the town — Nov. 11 at around 1:45 a.m., after residents reported hearing an explosion.

"It is a home on the property; there are two homes, one exploded, the other (caught) fire immediately as a result," Fire Chief Brent Thomas said.

No one was injured. Innisfil Fire initially called for mutual aid from departments in Barrie and Bradford, but those tankers have since been cleared from the scene.

The Essa and New Tecumseth fire services also provided back-up coverage to Innisfil, Thomas said.

Firefighters worked into the daylight hours to extinguish the blaze.

No further details are available at this time, Thomas said.
