A Richmond Hill man is dead following a fiery crash on Duckworth Street near Georgian Drive last night.
Emergency crews responded to the crash scene at 11:52 p.m.
According to Barrie police, the vehicle was heading northbound on Duckworth Street, north of Georgian Drive, when it left the roadway and struck the southeast corner of the Highway 400 overpass, causing the vehicle to burst into flames.
The driver, a 69-year-old Richmond Hill man, who was the lone occupant in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. The man's name was not released.
Duckworth Street was shut down in both directions and remained closed until shortly after 7:15 a.m., this morning for the Barrie police traffic unit's investigation, which remains ongoing.
Police say they are still trying to determine why the vehicle left the roadway.
