A driver has been arrested after the OPP used a spike belt on Highway 11 earlier this week.
On Monday, Dec. 30, around 1 p.m., Temiskaming Shores Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the intersection of Highway 11 and Highway 66 after reports of an SUV driving erratically were made. When the OPP tried to stop the vehicle repeatedly, a spike belt was laid out on the highway.
Trevor Marchildon, 37, from Englehart was arrested and is facing charges of:
- Assaulting a peace officer with a weapon - two counts
- Assaulting a peace officer - cause bodily harm
- Criminal harassment - repeatedly follow
- Mischief endangering life
- Resisting peace officer
- Assault with a weapon
- Dangerous operation
- Flight from peace officers
- Disobey order of the court - two counts
The accused was remanded and will appear in court in Hailabury on Jan. 6, 2025.
