Police are seeking the public's help to identify a suspicious vehicle (the green car in the background) and its driver following an incident in Oro-Medonte last week.

The Orillia OPP hopes to locate a man who "aggressively" approached a local youth in Oro-Medonte last week.

Just after 9 a.m. on Sept. 11, police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle near Line 1 South, with the driver stopping and exiting his vehicle before approaching the youth in an “aggressive manner,” police report.

“There was a kid waiting for the bus … and the driver got out and approached the kid a little bit aggressively,” said Orillia OPP Cst. Shelby Russell. “The kid did run away, but we're looking to identify the driver.”

Police describe the vehicle as an “older green car” and the suspect as non-white, approximately 30-40 years old, and around 5’6" with a slim build.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with the Orillia OPP and the Orillia detachment's major crime unit requesting the public’s assistance with identifying the vehicle and driver.

“Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this, may have dash cam footage or may have home security systems in the area to review it,” said the OPP in a press release.

Members of the public with information about the driver or suspected vehicle are encouraged to reach out to the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous at 1-800-222-8477.
