MIDLAND - A member of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while on traffic patrol at 8:43 a.m. Aug. 21, 2019 of Highway 93 observed a white Subaru travelling at a high rate of speed.
The officer was able to safety stop the south bound vehicle after obtaining a clock of 185 km/hr in an 80 km/hr zone.
Charged is Zachary Hoy 23 years old of Midland, with the following driving offences:
- Race a motor vehicle - Excessive Speed
- Speeding 50+ Km/h over posted limit
Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario
His vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days along with his driver's licence that has been suspended for 7 days under the conditions of the Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) and he will be appearing before the Ontario Provincial Offences court in Penetanguishene at a future date.
Officers remind motorists and operators that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways, waterways and trails.
