Vehicle strikes Hewitt's farm stand; driver apprehended

No charges have yet been filed in relation to the incident, says Barrie police official

An alleged hit-and-run at a plaza on Duckworth and Grove Streets in Barrie ended with a driver in police custody on Monday afternoon.

According to Barrie police, a call came in at about 1:30 p.m. on Monday of a driver who had collided with another vehicle in the parking lot of the plaza, and in attempting to flee the scene instead collided with a Hewitt's Farm stand.

"A male driver struck another vehicle and left the scene, at which point he struck the farm stand. He was immediately apprehended," said Barrie police communication co-ordinator Peter Leon.

The driver of the other vehicle was transported to hospital from the initial collision, he said.

"We still have units on-scene investigating," said Leon.

Leon said no charges have yet been filed in relation to the incident.
