'Very aggressive' male arrested after incident at Orillia Walmart

'While officers were arresting this individual, he made attempts to flee and further assaulted numerous officers,' police say of 31-year-old suspect

It was anything but business as usual at Walmart Wednesday evening.

Orillia OPP were called to deal with a "very aggressive" man who was "found to be committing numerous" offences at the west Orillia department store.

"While officers were arresting this individual, he made attempts to flee and further assaulted numerous officers," notes a media release from the Orillia OPP.

Following an investigation, Kierin Gent, 31, of Niagara Region, was charged with mischief under $5,000, causing a disturbance, failure to comply with a release order, obstruct a peace officer, two counts of resisting a peace officer and assault of a peace officer.

The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
