An Orillia man is in hospital after being pulled from Lake Couchiching without vital signs late Saturday afternoon.
Orillia OPP Const. Ted Dongelmans said the 42-year-old man suffered “serious injuries” as a result of the incident.
Bystanders pulled him from the water off the government dock at Couchiching Beach Park. He was given CPR before paramedics arrived and took him to hospital.
Dongelmans said there weren’t many details available about how the man, who he said was not a strong swimmer, ended up in the water.
The man’s name is not being released at this time, but Dongelmans said he is “a well-known individual in the city.”
“I actually know him personally,” he said.
He couldn’t say if the incident was accidental but noted an investigation is underway and no charges have been laid.
